The only real entertainment in the Republican debates. The rest of the guys all have perfectly matching positions on almost every issue with the only difference being how well they can project their ferver and sincerity.

Ron Paul has a hard-core group of followers with strong libertarian views. This puts him at odds with the rest of the Republican party, which are clearly not libertarians. He has no chance of winning, but if he wasn't running, there would be absolutely no debate at the Republican debates.

Tifster told me that he (Ron Paul) has consistent views on issues. That's surely something, an alien concept for politicians.

Oh he is consistent. There is no question he believes in what he says, On the other hand he is not a consistent libertarian, as he holds clear non-libertarian views on certain social and religious beliefs. He is a conservative Republican with strong libertarian and isolationist views.

On a personal basis, he is noted for providing free medical care for poor patients (he is a doctor) and everything else I have heard puts his personal behavior above reproach, unlike a lot of the so called "family values" republicans.

Doesn't stop people digging up dirt though. And once they find it...

Still, good to hear of a decent guy in politics, rare breed indeed.

Whatever Interests Me at the Moment

The pretty, young, Asian woman having lunch outside my window. Spring must be on the way. Those tables were almost deserted a couple of weeks ago. Its going to be a good summer. Problem is, they're talking about moving my section to the second floor. :eerie:

The editor of a science journal has resigned after admitting that a recent paper casting doubt on man-made climate change should not have been published.

The paper, by US scientists Roy Spencer and William Braswell, claimed that computer models of climate inflated projections of temperature increase.

It was seized on by "sceptic" bloggers, but attacked by mainstream scientists.

I am interested in Dev's avatar, what or who is that thing?
Listen, it was hard enough to drive those heavy old cars back then under normal circumstances, but with a crazed monkey clawing you at the same time, it becomes nearly impossible! http://www.timflock.com/jocko.htm

Thanks Dev. Hadn't really looked at this, although Fox News was touting this study a few months ago. There is a certain "grasping at straws" look about the attempts to build a counter-argument to global warming.

On the other hand, I to am naturally suspicious of model outputs.

I guess it depends on how much actual data they have, otherwise it would just be a case of an ant on a truck tyre. 8)
