What, Rick Astley? And the music of Schlock, Aching and Wateringcan?

The 80s were the best music decade. 70s is pretty good too.

Why does the vast majority of music suck these days? :loser: :loser: :loser:

50's and 60's music was good too. From 1990 onwards, music became worse and worse.

Young people these days don't have any musical talents at all. I also blame reality tv shows like Plop Idol, X-Factor, BGT, The Hoarse Voice etc. They have all produced shit singers. :talkhand: :talkhand:

Whoops I meant Pop Idol. Plop Idol was a reality TV show I had auditioned for and won. :shy: :shy: :shy: :puke:

Yeah, the women in my house were watching some voice show the other night. There was an audience of people going ape shit (sorry :sinister: ) over performers who sing no better than me. Of course, if it were Dev, he wouldn't bother singing; he'd just take off his clothes and they'd all be jumping up and down and screaming and throwing rotten fruit. Anyway, I don't like to think that all music is crap these days because that sounds too much like my dad. I believe radio stations all aim at the lowest common denominator (same as magazines) so the good music doesn't get promoted. I believe there is good music out there; its just harder to find. As for the '90s, some of my favourite music is from the '90s, the decade in which I turned thirty. The main reason I like that music is that was the decade in which I got into alternative/independent music. Its that non-commercial sound that appeals to me. Its not mass-produced or geared to appeal to teeny-boppers and morons. But the alternative/independent wave has mostly passed and record companies have capitalised on it and cashed in on it and now it sounds much like the rest of the mass-produced stuff so once again, you have to dig deeper if you want to find the good stuff.

Damn you, how did you come across that video??? :argh: :argh: :argh:

I need not remind you that it requires a lot of bravery and talent.

Mostly because of the record companies and most peoples buying habits.

Selling music is too easy now, just add a beat, some singing and some sex to spice things up and you instantly have a billboard hit.

I'm not complaining about that.. that's fine on it's own but these record companies have this "recipe" as their business model and as these companies are content with making a lot of money, it is dragging quality into oblivion..

True. Quantity over quality. Even the crappy acts of the 80s seem better than some of the 'good' ones these days. :loser:
